Extras Workshop December 6

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

OGDEN, UT – Alexius Omnimedia, in association with Trees Mom Casting, will be hosting the “What Does it Take to be an Extra?” workshop on December 6th. The workshop will be led by casting director and talent manager Robin Westover, along with producer and casting director Pietro D’Alessio

Designed for aspiring actors, the practicum will cover the basics from essential resume skills to making a living as a background player. D’Alessio states, “They’re not just extras, they’re background talent, because everyone has talent.” Students will also learn the nuts and bolts such as set etiquette, how to read a breakdown, call time and wrap, the key people on set, wardrobe, etc. Additional information will be offered on how to recognize legitimate projects, online job resources, union vs. non union markets, and how to promote oneself. “Becoming a background actor can be fun and rewarding, but you have to avoid the scams and learn the dos and don’ts,” notes Westover.

Enrollment in the workshop automatically enters students into the Alexius Pictures, Surgical Dalliance Films, Life Kinetic Productions, and Trees-Mom Casting databanks. Those registered will also be given a digital photo for their own personal casting purposes. The workshop is open to all ages and will be held at the Historic Kiesel Building in downtown Ogden, located at 2411 Kiesel Avenue, (just south of the Megaplex, within walking distance of FrontRunner), from 10AM until 6PM. Registration costs $30.

D’Alessio and Westover will also donate a portion of the proceeds to the Utah Artist Support Fund. The fund is devised on an as-needed basis to provide resources in bridging the gap for youth, young adults, and aspiring professionals in acquiring the tools and additional training necessary to pursue their artistic interests and careers.

Please note: This is not a job interview or audition. The presence of a casting director or talent manager or utilization of a casting office and/or talent management office is neither a guarantee nor promise of employment. The intent of this class is solely educational.
